The Rolling Stones wrote Get Off Of My Cloud in 1965 but today we talk about Internet clouds and how people can collaborate online together. In this workshop we will look at how the world is moving to cloud computing where all your applications and files are stored in various clouds on the Internet. You will explore and have time to use many free web apps to enhance teaching and learning in your classroom. Doug will feature his cloud favorite tools for classroom teachers:

Learn how to set up a Google Account using Gmail as the keys to the castle for all Google applications. Then, download the Google Chrome web browser and learn how your Chrome bookmarks are automatically synced with all your computers and smartphone. Learn the basics of Google Docs as the quintessential collaborative tool for teaching and learning today. Also, learn how to copy and use the UbD Unit Template created in a Google Doc. We will also explore other resources to help you with your lesson planning.

Today, the terms Digital Literacy, Visual Literacy, Literacy 2.0 and 21st Century Skills are used to articulate the ever expanding range of digital knowledge and skills in our world. Many educators now advocate that such media instruction be equally inclusive with traditional practices of text literacy. From this perspective, decoding single and mixed media forms is the now text of our times.

If a picture is worth a thousand words then imagine how we can teach our students to interpret images as they would a passage of text.It is important for all teachers to collect and/or create images that will optimize visual literacy with their students. Learn how to:
- take photos using your i21 classroom document camera;
- collect and manipulate photos using Google+ Photos;
- and use these custom photos in a variety of digital environments such as Schoology and Google Docs.

These workshops are designed for classroom teachers creating units and lesson plans

Nicole Santora, Ed.D, Supervisor of Mathematics and Science K-12 in Verona Public Schools, New Jersey
MBHS will unify our 9-12 curriculum unit planning using Understanding by Design (UbD) backward design.
Teachers will learn:
- Day 1 - An overview of UbD and differentiating between transfer, meaning making, and acquisition
- Day 2 & 3 - A discussion of the stages of the UbD curricular model. The teachers will transfer their understanding to create an original UbD unit in their subject matter.
UbD Unit Curriculum Writing Time 9am-12pm in Room 185 or 186
